Gone Girl (2014)

This is exactly how I picture my first marriage. On the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) comes home to something unusual. His wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), is nowhere to be found. The way the house is set up makes it look like a clear kidnapping. Nick then calls the police and two investigators show up because he has reported his wife as missing. Everything seems to be pointed at Nick when he is questioned because the police discover Nick does not seem as upset as one should be if their wife is missing. After a press conference on the disappearance of Amy Dunne, the media immediately points their finger at Nick as if he killed her. Nick then has to hire an attorney, Tanner Bolt (Tyler Perry) who is the lawyer who wins the unwinnable cases. This can somehow maybe get the media to take the attention off of Nick and go a different direction with the case. Where is Amy? Is she alive?

First off, Gone Girl has what I like to call an all-star cast. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike were damn near perfect. The performance of Rosamund Pike was very strong, but also gave some disturbing portrayals in certain scenes. The whole movie your heart will not stop racing. This is definitely a roller coaster ride that Fincher gives us. This is the tenth feature film that David Fincher has made and is probably his best since Fight Club.

Nick and Amy do not have your typical marriage. they have a marriage that is very corrupt. This twisted film has you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. All of the twists and turns this film throws at you are very unexpected and make it one hell of a ride.

For anyone out there that is a Tyler Perry fan, I have no idea what you will think of him in this. This isn’t his typical Madea Goes To Jail role. Perry is someone that could have possibly be considered for an Oscar nomination for his performance in Gone Girl. The writing in this movie is awesome. The script is great in this film and it is so hard to not enjoy. Although Gone Girl is a long movie, the movie definitely does not seem to be 145 minutes. I was pretty pissed when it ended. I wanted to see more, but it ended just at the right time.

Gone Girl is the type of movie that you should move to the top on your watchlist. I was looking forward to this for months and it did not disappoint in the slightest bit!

Overall, the direction of the film is excellent and the acting is just simply magnificent. And the ending…Fucking awesome!

Grade= A (Excellent! A Must See!)
