Neighbors (2014)

Frats are overrated anyway! The movie starts with Mac (Seth Rogen) and his wife Kelly (Rose Byrne). They seem to have the perfect life. They have a newborn baby and a brand new house that they bought in a great neighborhood. That all changes when the people who buy the house next door are a fraternity. Anyone who knows about frats knows that they consist of loud parties and obnoxious people. You wouldn’t exactly call it the type of environment to raise your child next to. Once Mac and Kelly realize that a fraternity is next door, they try to act all cool and hip to the president of the frat, Teddy (Zac Efron). They ask Teddy very nicely if he could make sure everything isn’t very loud all the time. They both thought that Teddy was on board with this, but after a few times of trying to call him, Kelly and Mac decided they need to call the cops and let them handle it. Teddy and the rest of the fraternity feel betrayed by Mac and Kelly and now we have a war between Mac and Kelly and the entire fraternity.

Neighbors is a movie that will make you laugh throughout. I thought Rogen and Byrne were absolutely hysterical as the “old” next door neighbors. These two made a very funny pair. This movie was an hour and a half long. It certainly didn’t seem like that. This movie goes by so quick because of how funny it is and how hard you are laughing. Sure, this is a movie that will keep you entertained and laughing throughout, but there is so much more to the plot. There is a message behind it that makes this movie great. The message is to teach the members of the frat, that college life is great and all, but one day the party has to stop at some point.

The other actors were very fun, energetic, and funny. I am not a fan of Zac Efron, like at all! This was something that made me shocked. His performance in this not only made me laugh, but I think this is going to open up doors for him with funny acting roles. He is normally in these stupid, God- awful movies. He shocks us all with his role as the president of the fraternity. His partner in the movie, Pete (Dave Franco) is also very funny and gives us a lot of scenes to laugh at with a certain trick he is able to do.

Neighbors is the type of movie that if you want to sit down one day and watch something that is going to just make you laugh, then this is the one for you. An all round funny movie that keeps you entertained and very amused throughout the whole course of the movie. A job well done by director, Nicholas Stoller.

Overall, Neighbors is a typical Seth Rogen movie. If you are a fan of the movies he is in then you’ll love this one. Neighbors is hysterical, enjoyable, and a lot of fun. I definitely recommend giving this one a look.

Grade= B+ (Very good!)
