Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

Here’s a movie that came out a few years ago that is great. Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper), suffers from a bipolar disorder and is released from a mental institution. He learns that his wife, Nikki (Brea Bee), has moved away after a violent event that occurred between Pat and the man she was cheating with. Pat’s father (Robert De Niro), is out of work and is bookkeeping to afford the money to open his own restaurant. Pat has to do something that will get his life back on track after his wife files a restraining order against him. He wants to win Nikki back and he needs to do something to convince her that he is stable enough to be in a healthy marriage. He then meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who has a lot of problems of her own. Tiffany tells Pat that she can get in touch with Nikki if he does a favor for her. He needs to be her partner in a dance competition or else she will not give Nikki the letter that Pat has written for her.

Silver Linings Playbook is a movie that makes me proud to be from Philadelphia. This movie is a lot about the Eagles and sports in Philadelphia. This movie is a very unique drama that was one of the best film’s of the year. This isn’t just a feel- good movie, but it is also entertaining and a huge crowd pleaser. This is a movie that shows outstanding, writing, directing, and casting. Everyone involved with this made it so enjoyable to watch.

This was definitely a huge surprise that Jennifer Lawrence was that excellent in this movie because she was currently 22- years of age, having to work with someone like Bradley Cooper who was 37 at the time. The comedy value in this movie is high, but it mostly features an emotional tale between two people who are very messed up in the head. The soundtrack for this movie was great as well. Playing songs from Led Zeppelin to Stevie Wonder.

Silver Linings Playbook gives us something that definitely hits the heart. This is a film that definitely captivates you throughout and makes you feel great about yourself. Silver Linings Playbook definitely took a different approach to comedy, life, and romance. Two thumbs up from me!

Overall, Silver Linings Playbook is that feel- good movie of the year that makes you happy while watching it. If you are from Philadelphia you will automatically love this movie, but even if you aren’t it’s still great.

Grade= A- (Awesome!)

    Richie Adams was great in this movie, I still think he should have been cast in Dumb and Dumberer 2, can’t wait til he stars in the upcoming sure fire Oscar hit Reichsfurer SS 2015.
    Richie has come a long way since he made his small/big screen debut in the Adult film “Forrest Hump” where he played a homosexual street prostitute named Chico.
