Here’s a movie that has been out for a few months that I just recently watched. Two years ago, Nick (Jason Bateman), Dale (Charlie Day), and Kurt (Jason Sudekis) were able to successfully get rid of their bosses. Now things are different for the three of them. They invented something called the Showerbuddy. This is getting a lot of attention and big time business men Burt Hanson and his son Rex (Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine) decide they want to go into business with them. Nick, Dale, and Kurt accept the offer from Burt and Rex. Once the company gets going, Burt decides to back out of the deal leaving the three guys screwed. They want to try to figure out how they can get rid of Burt and Rex. They pay a visit to their old friend, Motherfucker Jones (Jamie Foxx). As always, Motherfucker gives them a great idea and that is to kidnap Rex and have Burt give them all the money they had to invest in the company. They really like this idea and decide to go with it. Once they kidnap Rex, they find out that he is a nut case and wants in on the plan because he has issues with his father. They weren’t expecting this at all, but they do think Rex can help them.
First off, Horrible Bosses 2 is nowhere near as funny as the first film. Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudekis are just great together. That is why I wanted to see this movie. After seeing them in the first one, it was hard to not see this. The three of them are awesome together. I will watch anything these three guys are in together. The entertainment they give you is excellent. Having said that, the movie was more of a disappointment.
I thought this movie started off very strong and funny, but suddenly felt like it started to drag on and I was ready for it to be over. This movie has a runtime of just under 2 hours and it felt longer. I just didn’t find the movie to be consistently funny. I felt myself being bored for the last hour of this. I just didn’t find anything interesting about this movie, which is a shame because I loved the first one and thought it was a riot. The only thing that kept this one going was Jason, Charlie, and Jason.
Horrible Bosses 2 is a movie that starts to drag on about nothing. The plot was just not very interesting. This movie should have been shortened by at least thirty minutes. I also think Jennifer Anniston’s role started to get a little old and boring. It was great in the first one, but she just started to get annoying in this one. It was the same old song and dance with her. The movie is mostly a good laugh, but does leave you bored the last hour.
Overall, Horrible Bosses 2 is a movie that does have its moments that make you laugh, but is one that you will be pretty bored with. If you saw the first one, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to check this out.
Grade= C (Okay)
