Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Here’s a movie that just came out yesterday. In the post-apocalyptic future, a part of the world is run by this cult leader named King Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrnre). He runs a huge part of the desert. Joe is a really bad guy because he does not give his people any water or oil when he clearly has plenty of it. He will let the water run for a minute or so then shut it off until he feels like it. Not everyone likes Joe or wants to listen to what he says or stands for, especially Max (Tom Hardy). Max is an ex-cop who goes through life not doing what Joe wants him to do and he just does his own thing. This eventually gets him kidnapped by Joe’s men. Joe has a few wives and one of them is actually pregnant and he wants to keep his legacy going through his child. Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) is Joe’s most trusted worker and Joe wants her to transport his wives to a safer place, but Furiosa thinks it’s about time she left Joe’s world and went somewhere else. Everything is just nuts from here on!

Mad Max: Fury Road is two hours of just straight up nonstop action and I loved every minute of it. I went through the first hour wondering if this movie was ever going to slow down, but it never did. I think this is one of the best action movies I have seen in the last decade. Mad Max is absolutely insane. I have never seen so much action in one movie and I never got tired of it. I can’t believe I loved this movie as much as I did because it is incredibly over-the-top, but all the great action scenes and pretty cool storyline are what make it so great. There was never a dull moment in this movie. After about the first hour it slowed down for a few minutes, but then picked right back up with the awesomeness.

Mad Max was directed by George Miller. I thought he did an excellent job with this because everything was just so awesome. I even loved how great the cast was. Tom Hardy is just awesome in a lot of stuff he is in. From seeing Tom as Bane and then go to Max is just great. Max isn’t as bad-ass as Bane, but pretty damn close to it. I like Charlize Theron a lot too and I thought this was a really weird role for her to take on given her previous roles, but she pulled this one-off and I loved her character in this. What George Miller did here resulted in what was just excellence. He just shocked us in so many ways with this and it was absolutely nonstop entertainment throughout the entire film.

Mad Max completely raised the bar with action films now. This is going to be something hard to compete with for the year’s best action flick. I can definitely say this is one of the best action movies I have ever seen. It was just so much fun to be there in the theatre watching this. Having said that, this is definitely a movie you need to go to the theatre to see because it is awesome and loud. This movie is just crazy, to say the least. It’s very hard to explain this to someone because you need to go see it to really understand how incredibly nuts this film actually is. If you are someone who is really into action films, this one is definitely for you, but it is just so awesome that everyone can enjoy it.

Overall, Mad Max: Fury Road is a film that is awesome, crazy, over-the-top and just everything you want to see from an action film that was done right. You definitely need to go see this one!

Grade= A (Excellent! A Must See!)

    I missed Fury Road in the cinema and I’m still kicking myself. No matter, I did pick up the Blu-ray and for someone who spent many years pondering a fourth Mad Max film, even to the point of having unreasonable expectations, Fury Road delivered on all fronts!
