Magic Mike XXL (2015)

Well everybody, Mike is back with more magic than ever!  No Matthew McConaughey, but still a lot of entertainment. We fast forward three years ahead after Mike Lane’s (Channing Tatum) retirement from stripping. It seems like things are really working out for Mike. He has his own business with his own employees and business seems to be booming at the moment. The problem is, Mike really misses all the action and fun he had while being a stripper. The main thing he misses though is all his friends from the business. All the guys are traveling to Myrtle Beach for a stripper convention and they track down Mike and offer him the opportunity to come along. Mike is hesitant at first, but eventually gives in and the original crew are back at it again. This is a chance for Mike to go back out and have some fun with what he always loved to do.

To start, the first Magic Mike is incredibly ridiculous, funny and over-the-top. Magic Mike XXL takes that to another level. This one is far more vulgar, but is constantly hilarious. There is even a surprise cameo in this one that will absolutely shock you. This movie is not a great movie, but it is one that will entertain the hell out of you. As I said, if you thought the first one was ridiculous, this one is far worse. I did not love the first one, but I knew going into this that it would crack me up from start to finish and entertain me. It did just that and I am happy I made the decision to see this. I will say that I definitely found this one a lot funnier than the first one.

The acting is pretty great in this. I love that Channing Tatum is able to do roles like this. He likes to jump from one thing to another and he usually pulls it off. I think he is actually a pretty solid actor. There is one scene in particular with Joe Manganiello that is one of the funniest scenes that I have ever seen in any movie. He was pretty hysterical in this. My two favorite in this were definitely Gabriel Iglesias and Kevin Nash. I was never a huge fan of Kevin Nash before, but after seeing him in this film, I think he can be pretty funny and I would like to see him in more stuff. For the small time that Gabriel Iglesias is in this movie, he is absolutely hysterical and stole every scene that he was in.

I love that Soderbergh is behind the first movie. I think that the first movie was something new that entertained everybody. This film was directed by Gregory Jacobs. He is someone I like as well and I think he brought us something way different sand better with this film. While most of the film is pretty predictable and unambitious, it still makes you laugh your ass off and entertains you. I do not think this was a very good movie, but if you want to be entertained and laugh, then this is a movie you will definitely want to check out. All this movie does is make the audience have a good and fun time and I am completely fine with that.

Overall, Magic Mike XXL shows us that sometimes remakes aren’t all about showing up the first one, but strictly entertaining its audience and that is exactly what you get from this. If you are a fan of the first one, there is no doubt you will enjoy this.
