Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation (2015)

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is back and what may be his final mission. The IMF is now broken up because they are considered way too dangerous. Ethan is now forced to go into rogue mode and is currently in hiding away from everyone. Ethan still thinks that he can complete this mission and the IMF can form again. There is an evil group called the Syndicate that Ethan wants to take out because he believes they are planning to destroy the world. Ethan thinks that he can stop the Syndicate and everything can go back to normal. He really needs the help of his old crew in order to do this. This could jeopardize their careers, but as we have seen in the previous films, anybody will do anything in order to help Ethan. Can Ethan save the world again and make everything ok?

This movie is over two hours of non-stop action and fun. With the fifth installment in the series, I think it is safe to say that Christopher McQuarrie has done it right. I was not a fan of the first three all that much and I think the fourth one really took those to another level and an actually good action movie was made. I felt the same exact way with this one and I love the direction that these films are headed. I mean really, how many times have we seen action films flake into something that is simply mediocre at best. With the Mission: Impossible films, all I am seeing is progression in the making and I’m actually excited about it. This film surprised me and I thought it was the best action movie of this year, maybe with the exception of Mad Max.

The acting in this movie was pretty good overall. I think that Tom Cruise was awesome and that this is the role that he has been born to do. I just think that there is something about him that is very authentic for these movies and that he is awesome. Simon Pegg really surprised me with this one too. I am used to seeing him in great comedies, but he proved to be a really beneficial role for the film and the audience. We have seen him in the past few films, but I think there was something about this one that informed us that he is a very good actor and can do more small roles similar to this. To be quite honest, he is probably my favorite character in all the films. and how can I leave out Jeremy Renner. That dude is just awesome in everything he is in, so that’s all I’ll say about that.

For the fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible series, you feel as if the director has thrilled you. Even the opening scene is pretty unbelievable and to think that Tom Cruise does all his own stunts is ridiculous. The first five minutes of that movie will have your heart accelerating for sure. Even the rest of the movie will do that. That is what I loved about this movie, it is something that you can watch and just say, “that was fucking awesome.” As I sad earlier, I am really happy with the direction that these films are headed and knowing that Tom Cruise recently confirmed a sixth movie, makes me very excited for the next film. This is one I would definitely check out if you are into action films.

Overall, Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation is a solid action flick that everyone has been waiting to see. This is definitely some solid acting and writing and I can’t wait for the next film to be released.

Grade= B+ (Very Good!)
