Scream (1996)

Woodsboro is a small, little town where everything is peaceful and everybody loves everybody. That is until a stalker with a mask on (Ghostface) starts to stalk and kill the teenagers in the town. On the one year anniversary of Sydney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) mothers murder, two students are gutted and everything starts to relate back to the murder of her mother. The town takes serious caution and puts a curfew on the entire town to keep everybody safe and make sure everyone stays alive. With the help of local Deputy, Dewey (David Arquette) and popular journalist, Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox), everyone wants to catch the killer and make this town safe again. But, the high school kids are throwing a huge party in the middle of nowhere where if something happens, nobody will be able to help. Get ready for one night of a huge bloodbath!

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Scream franchise so I completely understand why there is a huge cult for these movies. This is a movie that supplies loads of entertainment, horror and a lot of laughs. Scream is a movie that is just really exciting and you will love every minute of it. I think it is safe to say that what we see here from Wes Craven may be his best cinematic horror film he has ever done. People will always say his masterpiece was A Nightmare On Elm Street and introducing Freddy Krueger, but the Scream franchise is nothing to not be excited about. This movie introduced horror fans to a whole new world of slasher films and they should be damn glad about that one.

My favorite character in this was Dewey (David Arquette). He is ridiculously goofy and stupid that you almost have to love him. I think he supplies most of the laughs in this movie. The star of this movie is Neve Campbell and she is absolutely phenomenal. She is so good in this movie that you actually think this is real life, which isn’t all that far-fetched. You always hear stories about stalkers who are trying to kill people. Even Courtney Cox is a fan favorite from this film. All of these actors together turn Scream into a fantastic horror flick. The Scream franchise is something I could watch all that time. I especially like to watch them leading up to Halloween, but they are just so good that you can never get enough of them.

The bottom line is that Scream is a hell of a lot of fun and an awesome ride that never stops. I think the story of this movie is great and Wes Craven does a tremendous job of keeping you much entertained, scared and on the edge of your seat throughout the entire film. I just think this is way different that most slasher films that I have seen and it is way more clever than any of the other ones. It’s also great because you never know who the killer is. throughout the whole movie, ever single character is a suspect and the finger is constantly being pointed at someone else and you never know who to expect. If you haven’t seen Scream before, I definitely recommend giving it a look, especially around the greatest time to watch horror films.

Overall, Scream provides you with its own originality and everything you would want to see out of a successful horror movie. With great performances, a fantastic story and phenomenal directing, Scream turns out to be one of the best horror movies of all time.
